Video

YouTube is fantastic.  Almost anything you can think of is on there.  Think of all the old TV shows that everyone used to watch, type it in and you can find something.  This is my favourite part of it.  You no longer have to rely on memory to record something.  Or if you here in the news about something interesting, well, you just have to go hunting, and you find it.  Mind you, on MSN, they often provide the video within it.  Google Video - another great tool.

I was wandering around, once again, and found the winner of the original Pop Idol, Will Young.  Not something we would generally see in Australia, and many people are probably wondering who he is, but with YouTube, the prominence of people can come out as the accessibility of it all is increased.  Look at Sandi Thom - that is how she became a pop star, people started to watch her video on YouTube!  How amazing is that?

Anyway, I found Will Young, and here is his winning song....

RSS feeds and the like

Well, RSS feeds are interesting.  Many different ways to start it up.  This was the first time I had used Bloglines to set up RSS feeds.  It was quite easy to set up and all where you can go!  It is amazing!  It is nice to be able to access one place and see if there are any updates on the pages, although, I have to admit, I do like going to the pages.  You never know what else you might find if you go wandering around the Web.  I selected a variety of sites, including the comic strip, Cathy.  There are not too many comic strips around that are so funny and yet so topical, in a real life context.

I think the best way for libraries to use this technology is for new items added to their catalogues and the events that we all run.  Maybe it will grab more people if they do not have to remember to look to see what the library is running at whatever time....

Another Day Another Blog

Searching around Flickr, and there is so much there.  All those photos, it is amazing.  Found this one - the picture is beautiful.  The colours of the sunset, and the colours of the water.  How some people manage to capture the shot, it is either sheer talent, or luck.  Got to hope it is the former otherwise photographers have a lot of luck.

Blogging

I am not a huge fan of blogging.  I understand the concept behind it and can see it has uses, but to just keep typing and putting thoughts in print is hard.  I never kept a diary, and to put it out there for any and everyone to see is quite hard. However, having fun with all the Library 2.0 things, and learning to design blogs, and looking forward to using YouTube and Flickr.
